Novak Djokovic‘s team doesn’t look anything like it looked only a few months ago, as he parted ways with another crucial figure.
In September last year, Djokovic spit with his agent, Edoardo Artaldi. Earlier this year, another crucial person left his team as he parted ways with coach Goran Ivanisevic.
The rest of his team remained the same, and former ATP doubles no. 1, Nenad Zimonjic, joined it as an interim coach. However, that has changed in the meantime, as the initial team doesn’t look the same anymore.
One of the most important members of his team, Djokovic’s fitness coach, Marco Panichi, is no longer part of his team, as the 36-year-old announced late on Tuesday evening.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion thanked Panichi for their years together, as he’s been arguably an essential part of his success, and becoming arguably the greatest tennis player of all time.
“Grande Marco, what amazing years of collaboration we’ve had. We reached the summit, won titles, broken records. But most of all, I have enjoyed our most “ordinary” days of training in and out of the gym.”
Like always, Djokovic’s message to his now former fitness coach included also multiple jokes that only the two will understand, and he also remembered his former coach Ivanisevic.
“Endless hours of “carciofini” and laughs that made me feel super motivated to prepare for success. Grazie Romanista (as Goran calls you) for all the energy, effort and time you invested in making me the best possible player and person I can be. Much love”
The Serbian player also provided some good news for his fans in the update on social media, as he confirmed that he will be playing at the upcoming Italian Open in Rome, which is an ATP Masters 1000 tournament held from May 8th to 19th, 2024.
“And I will see you soon in Roma.”
