Novak Djokovic Will Not Play 2024 Miami Open

It’s on to the clay for Novak Djokovic. The World No.1 has pulled out of next week’s Miami Open.

It was a relatively brief stay in the United States for the 24-time major champion. He split his two matches as he made his first appearance at Indian Wells since 2019, defeating Aleksandar Vukic in three sets before being stunned by Italian Lucky Loser Luca Nardi in the third round.

Nardi, ranked 123, became the lowest-ranked player to ever defeat Djokovic at a Masters 1000 or Grand Slam with his win.

With 2024 being an Olympic year, it makes sense that the soon to be 37-year-old (Djokovic turns 37 on May 22) would want to rest up and preserve his body for the long haul.

Djokovic is 44-7 lifetime at Miami with six titles.
