The 2024 NFL season is quickly approaching as teams are set to report to training camp in the next couple of weeks.

Teams will be looking to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs who have won the past two Super Bowls, and the field is much stronger this time around.

The AFC is loaded with contenders like the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins, while the NFC could produce a few surprises of their own outside of the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.

Defensively, teams must be as creative and disciplined as ever to slow down some of the high-octane offenses around the league.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ T.J Watt and Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons are two of the best defensive players in the league today and are currently the co-favorites to win the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award via ProFootballTalk

“T.J. Watt, Micah Parsons are the co-favorites to win Defensive Player of the Year.”

Watt previously won the award in 2021 and would be just the eighth player in NFL history to win it multiple times if he captures it again in 2024.

Meanwhile, Parsons has yet to claim the award, though he is a perennial candidate because of his ferociousness along the edge and in the run game.

Either player would be a worthy recipient given what they mean to their respective teams’ defenses, though players like Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett will also be in the running.

It should be an exciting race and it’ll be interesting to see who ends up winning it.
