The Edmonton Oilers have finalized their starting lineup for the first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Kings. Surprisingly, experienced forwards Connor Brown and Derek Ryan will not be in the lineup, while younger prospect Dylan Holloway and injured winger Evander Kane will be included instead.
According to Daniel Nugent-Bowman of the Athletic, Brown, who has shown improvement in recent games, will not be starting. Ryan, known for his versatility, will also sit out. Holloway will take their place, alongside Kane on the fourth line.
Coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed that Holloway will play approximately 10-12 minutes and will be paired with Ryan McLeod and Corey Perry on the third line.
The flexibility of the Oilers’ playoff lineup is highlighted by the potential for changes throughout the series. While Brown and Ryan may not sit out the entire series, their playing time will depend on the team’s success. Kane’s injury and productivity will play a significant role in future lineup decisions.
