Optics Shift in Canucks and Hurricanes Trade for Martin Necas

Canucks and Hurricanes Trade Optics for Necas Have Changed

When asked about the trade rumors involving Carolina Hurricanes’ forward Martin Necas and the Vancouver Canucks, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman suggested that the Canucks are still interested. However, recent developments have made the trade more complex.

During an appearance on the Donnie & Dhali Show, Friedman mentioned that talks of Necas returning to the Hurricanes have surfaced. Despite this, both sides seem to be at odds regarding Necas’ future. The Canucks’ interest in Necas is evident, but the absence of Elias Pettersson from trade discussions complicates matters.

Previous discussions involving Pettersson, although the forward never took them seriously, have now shifted due to Pettersson’s long-term contract. Friedman mentioned that including both Pettersson and Necas in trade talks was previously considered. The asking price for Necas is high and could include top prospects from the Canucks.

With the talks now altered from their initial state, completing the deal is much more challenging compared to when Pettersson could have been included in a trade package.
