Crystal Palace is on the lookout to bolster their attacking lineup with a dependable goal scorer.
Mick Brown, a former scout from the Premier League, reports that there are ongoing concerns about the performance of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eddie Nketiah.
Palace Seeks Replacements for Mateta and Nketiah
“The forward positions are a real concern for Crystal Palace,” he shared with Football Insider. “Their struggles to find the net have been evident on the field, but off it, Mateta’s contract situation is becoming a pressing issue.”
“There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding him, especially since it doesn’t seem like he’ll sign a new contract any time soon. Nketiah, on the other hand, hasn’t fully settled in at Palace and his recurrent injuries suggest they might be willing to replace him if a suitable option arises.”
“Therefore, they are looking for younger strikers for future potential alongside immediate replacements for Mateta and Nketiah.”
Potential Upgrades for the Two Forwards
Mateta has delivered strong performances for Crystal Palace over the years, although his form has dipped this season. It remains to be seen whether the club can attract a younger talent with greater potential. With an impressive squad already in place, they are competing at the European level, and enhancements are necessary to maintain that status.
Bringing in a quality striker could be a strategic move in the near future.
As for Nketiah, he has contributed positively as well, yet, if Palace aims to consistently challenge for titles and compete in Europe, they will need to recruit stronger players. After recently securing victories in the FA Cup and the Community Shield, their ambition will be to uphold that competitive edge.
