Crystal Palace Eyes Liam Rosenior Amid Chelsea Struggles
Crystal Palace is closely monitoring the challenging circumstances surrounding Chelsea, with former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown noting the Eagles’ longstanding admiration for Blues head coach Liam Rosenior.
Since taking over at Chelsea in January, Rosenior has faced mounting pressure following a series of disappointing results that have jeopardized the team’s chances of competing in the Champions League.
According to Brown, the Crystal Palace management has been following Rosenior’s career since his successful tenure at Hull City and his commendable performance in France with Strasbourg.
If the 41-year-old finds himself on the chopping block at Chelsea, Palace is anticipated to pursue him actively for their managerial vacancy.
Searching for Glasner’s Successor at Crystal Palace
In comments provided to Football Insider, Brown asserted that despite the challenges Rosenior currently faces at Stamford Bridge, his reputation remains intact among those in the football community.
With current Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirming his departure at season’s end, the club’s search for a successor is in progress.
“It appears Rosenior is under some strain,” Brown remarked. “If Chelsea decides to part ways with him, he will undoubtedly be a candidate for Palace, who have admired him since before his arrival at Stamford Bridge.”
Brown further emphasized, “Conversations I’ve had with individuals from Hull City praise Rosenior’s managerial style, his team’s organization, and his interactions with players. Although results at Chelsea have not met expectations, he was well-regarded during his time in France as well, keeping him on Palace’s radar.”
“If he were to leave Chelsea, Palace would certainly take notice and consider him as a viable option to succeed Glasner,” he added. “It’s definitely a situation they will keep under review.”
Rosenior’s Position Remains Secure for Now
As the pressure mounts with four straight losses, including a dismal 8-2 aggregate defeat in the Champions League to PSG, Rosenior’s position at Chelsea looks increasingly precarious.
A 3-0 loss to Everton has also pushed Chelsea down to sixth place in the Premier League standings. However, reports indicate that the Chelsea board plans to grant Rosenior at least a full season before reevaluating his performance.
