Patrick Mahomes wasn’t happy at the end of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 20-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 14 after a touchdown pass was called back on a penalty.

So when Mahomes went to see Bills quarterback Josh Allen after the end of the game, the Chiefs quarterback told Allen how awful of a call he thought it was instead of congratulating him on his win.

Now that a few days have passed since the game and the incident, Mahomes seems to have regretted his actions.

He told reporters Wednesday that he should have shown better sportsmanship after the loss and he let his emotions get to him, according to AtoZ Sports’ Charles Goldman.

The postgame reaction by Mahomes and his subsequent frustrations were not a good look for the quarterback, but it was encouraging to see him show some humility after the fact.

The loss was big for the Chiefs – who’ve lost three of their past four games – but it won’t ruin their season.

Kansas City still leads the AFC West over the Denver Broncos by one game with an 8-5 record and remain one of the best teams in the NFL.

They also have a much easier schedule at the end of the season with games against the New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, and Los Angeles Chargers.

Of that group, only the Bengals have a shot at the postseason, and Cincinnati’s odds aren’t very good, either.

But Mahomes’ actions are perhaps a result of a weird season for the Chiefs, whose offense ranks outside the top-10 for the first time since 2016.

This could be a turning point, though, for Kansas City down the stretch.
