With only two games left in the 2023 NFL season, the New England Patriots will have a busy offseason as they look to overhaul the organization and roster in hopes of once again competing in the playoffs.
There is increasing belief that the Patriots will part ways with head coach Bill Belichick at the conclusion of the season after another missed postseason, paving the way for a new regime to take over the franchise.
As for the roster, New England will need to restock it with talent on both sides of the ball.
It’s almost a foregone conclusion that the Patriots will be selecting one of the talented quarterback prospects in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, but they also need to bolster their wide receiver room.
Demario Douglas was quite the find by the team in last year’s draft, but they need more receivers in order to spruce up the offense.
Injuries have decimated the wideout room in New England and the team made the move to designate JuJu Smith-Schuster via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
“The #Patriots placed WR JuJu Smith-Schuster on IR, per the wire,” Rapoport tweeted.

Smith-Schuster signed with New England in the offseason following his win with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, but the talented wideout never found his footing with the team.
Injuries have sapped Smith-Schuster of his speed, and it appears he couldn’t shake the ankle injury he suffered in Week 14.
It’s a disappointing end for his first season with the Patriots and it’ll be interesting to see if he stays beyond this year.
