The Dallas Cowboys are already at a crucial juncture in their season after a disappointing home opener against the New Orleans Saints.

The 190 rushing yards Dallas allowed has put the spotlight squarely on their defensive woes, especially with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens coming to town in Week 3.

Former NBA champion Paul Pierce recently emphasized the significance of this upcoming game for the Cowboys.

He said he believes their confidence is wavering, noting that in recent matchups, they’ve been easily overpowered by stronger teams.

“This could make or break their season,” Pierce said on “Speak.” “If they lose this game and get run over again, the defensive confidence will be gone. I don’t see how you get it back … because they haven’t shown it.”

Pierce, a former Boston Celtics star, understands the importance of home games and also suggested that the Cowboys need to assert themselves, particularly at AT&T Stadium.

The lack of run defense against the Saints not only yielded easy yardage but also allowed their opponent to control the game’s tempo and pace.

A victory against the Ravens would be more than just a morale boost for the Cowboys; it would help them re-establish their position as a contender in the competitive NFC.

Conversely, another defeat could intensify the pressure on head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott.

The latter’s rocky start to the season has left fans anxious for a turnaround.

As the Cowboys face the Ravens, they’re not just battling for a win; they’re fighting to prove they really do belong among the NFL’s elite.
