Paul Pogba in advanced negotiations with Olympique de Marseille: Man United Transfer Update

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba in "advanced talks" with Olympique de Marseille - Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly in advanced talks to join Olympique de Marseille.

The former Red Devil is the most expensive signing in Unitedโ€™s history and made a dramatic return to the club in 2016.

He won the Europa League and Carabao Cup, playing 226 times in his second spell, scoring 39 goals.

Nonetheless, despite showing moments of magic, he never really lived up to his billing and eventually left the club on a free transfer in 2022 to rejoin former side Juventus.

His second spell at the Old Lady has been plagued by injury and then a ban for taking an illegal substance, which was recently reduced, so he will be able to return to the pitch in March next year.

According to journalist Malick Traore who works for Nouvelle Chaรฎne Ivoirienne, Marseille are already in talks with Pogba for a January move.

The discussions are said to be at โ€œan advanced stageโ€ with Pogba seemingly likely to leave Juventus despite the fact he can play again in a matter of months.

Juventus CEO Maurizio Scanavino told Sky Sport Italia โ€œwe are talking to his entourage. Pogba is a great player and he certainly can still play. However, between injuries and bans, he effectively hasnโ€™t really played for two years.โ€

Were he to complete a move to the southern French side, it would mean a mouth-watering reunion with fellow former United player, Mason Greenwood.

Greenwood has made a very positive start to life in France, as he has found the net five times in seven matches for the Ligue 1 side.

With Marseille sitting third in the league, Pogba could find himself back in a team competing for titles and also playing Champions League football in the near future.

It is unclear how much his lack of game time since 2022 will have affected his play but on his day, he will still clearly be an extremely talented midfielder capable of the sublime.
