2024 BMW PGA Championship: Billy Horschel Tops Rory McIlroy in Playoff
It was a pair of familiar faces on the PGA Tour battling it out for one of the biggest titles on the DP World Tour on Sunday.
Billy Horschel topped Rory McIlroy on the second playoff hole to win the 2024 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. Horschel made eagle on the par-5 18th hole to top McIlroy, whose eagle attempt slid past the right side of the hole.
Horschel birdied the hole in regulation to get into a playoff with McIlroy and Thriston Lawrence. McIlroy had a chance to win it in regulation with a 25-foot birdie putt, but it missed low.
For his victory, Horschel will earn $1.53 million out of the $9 million purse.
