Pelicans May Block James Borrego From Joining Lakers as Assistant Coach

Pelicans Could Prevent James Borrego From Joining Lakers Staff As Assistant

The New Orleans Pelicans could prevent James Borrego from joining the Los Angeles Lakers coaching staff as an assistant if J.J. Redick lands the head coaching job, as reported by Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Borrego currently serves as the associate head coach in New Orleans under Willie Green.

Both Borrego and Redick are top contenders for the open role, with the Lakers said to be on the verge of finalizing a deal with Redick.

Additionally, Stein notes that Anthony Davis may have a preference for Borrego over Redick.
