The Los Angeles Chargers are searching for a new head coach after the team fired Brandon Staley during the 2023 regular season.

There are a lot of quality candidates out there, ranging from exciting coordinators to other former head coaches looking to make a comeback.

But NFL Network’s Peter Schrager believes one name out there would fit all the criteria of the next Chargers’ head coach because of his winning mentality and experience: Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh.

“Jim Harbaugh is the perfect fit for the Los Angeles Chargers,” Schrager said Tuesday. “I think he fits everything in what L.A. wants to be. And they need to win eventually.”

Harbaugh just led the Wolverines to a national championship.

He also has ample experience in the NFL after he led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2012 during his four years with the team.

Harbaugh’s connections don’t stop there, though: He coached the University of San Diego (the city the Chargers used to play in) as well as Stanford – so he also has experience with the state of California.

The Chargers are an attractive job for any head coach, as well, with stars like quarterback Justin Herbert leading the charge and quality defensive players like Joey Bosa and Derwin James.

Harbaugh could have his pick of the openings, though, if he chooses to leave the college ranks for the NFL after taking home a title.
