The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly planning to file a grievance with the NBA regarding the officiating in their first round series against the New York Knicks, as per ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.
After dropping the first two games of the series, the Sixers find themselves trailing the Knicks 0-2.
In a crucial moment during the game, New York was down by five points with less than 30 seconds left when Jalen Brunson sank a clutch three-pointer. A steal by Josh Hart from Tyrese Maxey led to a missed three-pointer by Donte DiVincenzo, but Isaiah Hartenstein grabbed the offensive rebound and passed it to OG Anunoby. Anunoby found DiVincenzo for another three-pointer to put the Knicks ahead by one.
Nick Nurse, coach of the Knicks, claimed that he was attempting to call a timeout before Maxey had the ball stolen to kick off that sequence.
Following the game, Joel Embiid expressed his frustration with the officiating, calling it “unacceptable.”
