The Philadelphia Phillies have been one of MLB’s best teams for a few weeks now. Even though they lost their most recent game, they remain elite and have won seven of their last 10. They still have the best record in MLB at 38-16 so yes, in case you were wondering, they remain the best team in the league. As a result, they are still at the top of MLB’s weekly power rankings.

Philadelphia currently has a healthy six-game lead in the NL East over the Atlanta Braves. A surprisingly good rotation has been fueling Philadelphia’s recent run. Their starters opened Monday with the best ERA in baseball at 2.69, slightly better than the New York Yankees’ 2.72. Speaking of the Yankees, they are second in MLB’s power rankings, as the best team in the American League. Just like the Phillies, their recent form (7-3 in their last 10 games) has been fueled by flawless performances by their starters and, of course, the Aaron Judge – Juan Soto duo. Some folks say the best team in the junior circuit is not New York, though: that distinction, in the minds of some, goes to the Cleveland Guardians. The Guards actually have a better winning percentage (.679 to .673 than the Yanks) and have benefitted from an incredible bullpen to lead the AL Central. The Baltimore Orioles and the Los Angeles Dodgers complete the top five, according to the league’s power rankings. A tier below, you can find solid teams like the Kansas City Royals, the Braves, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Minnesota Twins, and the Chicago Cubs.
