The Philadelphia Phillies are off to a strong start to the season and are sitting at 18-10 and keeping pace in the NL East with the Atlanta Braves behind a stellar pitching staff, but a few position players are off to incredible starts as well.

One veteran has taken the next step at the plate and is on pace for a historic season if he can keep up his early-season pace.

NBC Sports Philadelphia discussed third baseman Alec Bohm’s recent hot streak yesterday and pointed out that he is currently on pace for a gaudy 150 RBIs after extending his hitting streak to 11 games and picking up four more RBIs on Saturday.

The 27-year-old Bohm is off to a breakout season and is hitting .354 thus far with four homers and 26 RBIs.

He also has a 1.030 OPS and 14 walks to just 18 strikeouts, which is a noticeable improvement in terms of plate discipline, an issue that hasn’t been his strong suit so far in his career.

Bohm has been solid offensively the past couple of seasons, but still only put up a .713 and .765 OPS in each of those two seasons largely due to low on-base percentages.

He only put up 0.8 and 0.5 WAR in each of the past two seasons, numbers that he has already surpassed in 28 games so far this year.

No one is expecting Bohm to continue hitting .354 or to drive in 150 runs, but if he can sustain some level of this production and hit .300 with over 100 RBIs, it would be a great year for the Phillies’ budding star.
