As reported by Elliotte Friedman, Pierre-Luc Dubois is rumored to be traded to Washington. According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the Kings and Caps are finalizing a trade involving Dubois and Darcy Kuemper. This trade is a one-for-one deal with no salary retained.
Dubois’s full no-move clause was set to kick in on July 1, but he is reportedly excited for the trade to Washington, according to LeBrun.
Dubois, the third-overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, had an up-and-down first season with the Kings, totaling 40 points with 16 goals and 24 assists. He has been viewed as a disappointment for the organization since being acquired from the Winnipeg Jets. Prior to joining the Kings, he had back-to-back 60-point seasons with the Jets.
Dubois still has seven seasons remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $8.5 million and $59.0 million in actual salary left to be paid.
In a series of separate moves, the Kings have traded away Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo, Rasmus Kupari, a 2024 2nd Rounder, and Darcy Kuemper (2018).
The Kings have acquired Pierre-Luc Dubois for one year, along with Scott Wedgewood, Tobias Rieder, and Darcy Kuemper (2024).
