Mauricio Pochettino got his introduction to the US and Mexico rivalry, complete with plenty of chippiness, strong fouls, and palpable dislike between the sides in a friendly. Mexico was largely dominant with the US struggling to poses or build in the first half before Raul Jimenez opened the scoring with a fantastic shot following an Aiden Morris foul just outside the box. Matt Turner managed to get finger tips to it but couldn’t manage any more on the shot that curled into the upper right corner. The US would give up a second goal shortly into the second half after yet another turnover and some shaky defending. There were not many bright spots on the night, as the US found it difficult to build possession and recorded only one shot on goal on the evening, making it a bit challenging to identify a man of the match and presumably leading to some low player scores.
