Popert secures third straight G4D Tour victory at BMW PGA Championship – Golf News

Popert bags third consecutive G4D Tour @ BMW PGA Championship title - Golf News

Kent’s Kipp Popert secured his third consecutive G4D Tour @ BMW PGA Championship title with an impressive four-shot victory at Wentworth on Tuesday.

Heading into the second round tied at the top with Irishman Brendan Lawlor, Popert showcased why he is the world’s top-ranked golfer with a disability by carding a 69 to finish with a six-under-par total.

Both players were neck and neck after the front nine on the West Course, but Popert pulled ahead with a series of birdies from the 14th hole onwards, clinching his third individual G4D Tour title of the season.

In addition to his individual success, Popert also triumphed in the G4D Tour Nations Cup @ Betfred British Masters, teaming up with Heather Gilks. This latest win brings his total G4D Tour victories to an impressive 12.

England’s Mike Browne and Australian Lachlan Wood, both previous winners this season, ended up tied for third place at four over par.

Reflecting on his victory, Popert commented, “That was incredible. I felt the pressure this week, aiming for a third consecutive win and wanting to post solid scores.

“Brendan and I had a fierce competition over the past two days – I enjoy battling it out with him. Today just happened to be my day, but there will be occasions in the future where someone else will come out on top.

“Securing this event three times is a personal achievement I am extremely proud of. I dedicate a lot of effort into my game, so this victory truly means a lot to me.”
