Portland’s Jerami Grant Responds to Trade Rumors

Portland’s Jerami Grant Responds to Trade Rumors

Not many NBA players are escaping the trade rumors right now, including Portland’s Jerami Grant, who has spoken honestly about what he’s hearing.

The forward says he is happy where he is, according to Sean Highkin of the Rose Garden Report.

“You definitely see it,” Grant said after scoring 30 points and eight rebounds in Portland’s 105-103 win over the Nets on Wednesday. “But it’s not anything in my control. I’m cool here. I’m good with what I’m doing. Keep my head down and keep working, keep trying to help the young guys as much as I can. But it’s definitely something you see. It’s not something you can do anything about, especially since I just signed a deal. I’m here for as long as they want me.”

One of of the latest rumors involving Grant is that the Kings and Mavericks are interested in trading for him, but Malcolm Brogdon is the more likely target.

“Jerami Grant would represent an absolute difference-maker for both Dallas and the Sacramento Kings,” Yahoo Sports‘ Jake Fischer reports. “… The Kings have made Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter and Davion Mitchell available in trade conversations, sources said. However, Portland is not expected to seriously entertain offers for Grant, league sources told Yahoo Sports, in contrast to veteran point guard Malcolm Brogdon.”

The Blazers shocked the NBA world when they kept Grant during free agency by signing a five-year, $160 million contract.

The signing came as the team traded Damian Lillard, so the Blazers clearly value Grant’s stock as they look to rebuild.

The 29-year-old has averaged 21.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 33.7 minutes per game in 35 appearances this season.

He’s shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from the three.
