Potential Man United Squad vs Rangers: Leny Yoro in line for debut, Jadon Sancho eyes comeback – Latest Man United Updates

Zinedine Zidane, Jude Bellingham "recommend" Real Madrid to sign Jadon Sancho after Champions League heroics - Man United News And Transfer News

In theory at least, Leny Yoro could make his Manchester United debut this afternoon after his sensational transfer from LOSC Lille.

He could be one of several first team stars to make their first appearance of pre-season, with only a handful having taken part in the drab opener against Rosenborg on Monday.

There’s little indication of whether manager Erik ten Hag will field his strongest team or not, and it does seem unlikely that Yoro will take part having only signed yesterday. However, for our predicted XI we’ve been optimistic from the fans’ point of view and put the Frenchman straight in the starting XI.

There we have him partnering Victor Lindelof, who has been training but who, for some reason, did not make the Rosenborg trip.

Harry Maguire is still injured while Lisandro Martinez is on holiday following his victorious exploits at the Copa America.

We expect Andre Onana to return in goal despite also not travelling to Trondheim on Monday.

If Yoro does play, it would mean Jonny Evans possibly playing left back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right side of defence.

Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw are on post Euro 24 holiday while Tyrell Malacia is not yet ready to play as he continues his comeback from a year on the sidelines.

In midfield, Casemiro could partner Mason Mount. Hannibal played alongside the Brazilian on Monday but was very poor.

Up front, another talking point could be the return of Jadon Sancho, who has kissed and made up with Ten Hag after nearly a year of estrangement. We think he could play in the number 10 role, with Amad and Antony returning on the wings (they too were inexplicably absent from the Norway trip).

This would mean Marcus Rashford leading the line.

Of course, wholesale changes would be expected at half time with the likes of Toby Collyer, Harry Amass, Ethan Williams, Ethan Wheatley, Hannibal, Jack Fletcher and Joe Hugill getting a run out.

There will be no place for Will Fish, who picked up an injury against the Norwegian side.

Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund, Josh Zirkzee, Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen are all also still on holiday following international duty.

With all that in mind, here is our hopeful starting XI for today’s 4pm kick off at Murrayfield:
