Potential Manchester United transfer for Manuel Ugarte hinges on Casemiro’s decision – Latest updates on Red Devils’ transfers

Manchester United's move for Manuel Ugarte depends on Casemiro's future - Man United News And Transfer News

Having already addressed their attacking woes by signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, Manchester United are progressing well in their bid to strengthen their defence.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming a deal for Matthijs de Ligt “looks relatively straightforward”. Further, reports from France are suggesting Leny Yoro’s representatives are open to negotiating with United despite the player’s preference to move to Real Madrid.

However, little progress has been made with regard to rejuvenating the side’s midfield.

The Red Devils are yet to make a final decision on Sofyan Amrabat. His loan stint at Old Trafford formally expired on June 30, but he is yet to start training with Fiorentina. It is claimed he is eager to extend his stay at United.

Meanwhile, Casemiro, who was expected to be one of the early exits at United this summer, owing to his ageing legs, still remains at the club.

The Brazilian midfielder featured in United’s pre-season defeat against Rosenborg BK.

The former Real Madrid man, who joined the English outfit for a fee in the region of £70m in 2022, has been linked with Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Ittihad, but United are yet to receive a formal offer for him.

According to The Guardian, the sale of Casemiro may have to occur to allow the signing of a new midfielder. Erik ten Hag is said to be an admirer of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who is valued at about €45m.

However, considering United’s financial fair play concerns, they may struggle to spend such a figure without parting ways with Casemiro.

The report adds that a loan deal for the Uruguayan, who is tied to the French giants until 2028, may also be a possibility.

So far, the club’s hierarchy have raised funds this summer by permanently selling Álvaro Fernández, Willy Kambwala, and Donny van de Beek. However, none of the sales have fetched a transfer fee north of £10 million.

In that regard, Mason Greenwood’s transfer to Marseille could greatly help the Premier League side. It is being reported that all parties have agreed terms over a deal worth £26.7m.

United would do well to attract a similar figure for Casemiro, who is one of the highest-paid players at Old Trafford.
