Premier League releases statement in response to Nottingham Forest’s assault on officials

Premier League issues statement following Nottingham Forest's attack on officials

The Premier League has released a statement condemning Nottingham Forest’s remarks following their controversial defeat to Everton. Forest had three clear penalties denied against Everton, leading them to criticize the VAR official on social media. They implied that the official’s allegiance to Luton was a factor in the decision, as a defeat for Forest would benefit Luton in their fight against relegation.

Forest also demanded the release of the VAR audio in another statement. This strong reaction has garnered criticism from figures such as Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, and Mike Dean. The FA has initiated an investigation into the club’s statements.

In response, the Premier League expressed disappointment in Forest’s comments, stating, “It is never appropriate to improperly question the integrity of match officials.” The Premier League will also investigate the matter in relation to the League’s Rules.
