Summer is over, and September marks the return of college golf season. The NCAA Men’s Golf Championship is set to take place at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California next spring, continuing the competition for the national title. Auburn clinched their first-ever national championship last year, defeating Florida State in the match-play final. With key players returning, including the reigning player of the year, Jackson Koivun, Auburn starts the season in a strong position.

As the new college golf season kicks off, Golfweek has released its 2024-25 men’s college golf preseason rankings. The defending champions, Auburn Tigers, lead the pack with a talented roster that includes top players like Brendan Valdes, Carson Bacha, and Josiah Gilbert. Incoming freshman Billy Davis adds to the team’s depth, making Auburn a formidable opponent in college golf.

Arizona State, led by U.S. Amateur champion Josele Ballester and PGA Tour University’s top player Preston Summerhays, aims to make a strong comeback this season. Vanderbilt, with standout players like Gordon Sargent, Jackson Van Paris, and Wells Williams, is poised to compete at the highest level.

Virginia boasts a deep and experienced team led by Phil Mickelson Award winner Ben James. Florida State, anchored by amateur sensation Luke Clanton, hopes to build on last year’s success. Tennessee, Texas, Illinois, and Florida are among the teams to watch this season, each with talented players eager to make their mark in college golf.

North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Georgia Tech round out the preseason top 15. The upcoming season promises exciting competition and thrilling matchups as these top college golf teams vie for supremacy on the course.
