Preview of American soccer players abroad: Polvara, Cowell, and others

Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Polvara, Cowell, and more

Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen opens its competitive schedule on Saturday and midfielder Dante Polvara will aim for an even larger role this season.

Polvara made 40 combined appearances for Aberdeen last season, scoring four goals and adding five assists. The former Georgetown standout was one of the club’s better performers despite an all-around disappointing campaign. Polvara remains one of the key returnees in Jimmy Thelin’s squad as Aberdeen aims for silverware for the first time since 1984.

A trip to third-tier side Queen of the South kicks off Scottish League Cup play, providing Aberdeen and Polvara with an early opportunity to gain some early season confidence.

In Mexico, Cade Cowell and Brandon Vazquez resume Liga MX action.
