Previewing the 2025 Indian Wells Open Final: Aryna Sabalenka Faces Mirra Andreeva

Previewing the 2025 Indian Wells Open Final: Aryna Sabalenka Faces Mirra Andreeva

Aryna Sabalenka and Mirra Andreeva will battle it out for the trophy at the 2025 Indian Wells Open.

Sabalenka and Andreeva have been among the three best players in 2025. Only one player managed to accumulate more points this year, and her name is Madison Keys. The American got the vast majority of her points for winning the Australian Open.

In Indian Wells, however, Keys was beaten by Sabalenka, who didn’t allow the reigning Australian Open champion to win more than one game.

The Belarusian player has been in great form this year despite losing two of three matches that she played in the Middle East. She was on an 11-match winning streak at the start of the season, and Sabalenka has also won five matches in a row in Indian Wells now to reach the final.

Coincidentally, her final opponent is currently on an 11-match winning streak. Andreeva won the title in Dubai and added five more wins in Indian Wells.

Both have played extremely well so far in Indian Wells this year and this season overall, so it’s a well-deserved final that will certainly be a proper spectacle.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Mirra Andreeva Head-to-head:

There are many similarities between the two this year. Both Sabalenka and Andreeva have lost only three matches in 2025. However, while the WTA World No. 1’s losses came against Keys, Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Clara Tauson, Andreeva’s situation is different.

The 17-year-old player lost two of the three matches that she lost this year to Sabalenka. The Belarusian beat the teenager in Brisbane and also at the Australian Open this year.

Both of those wins were very one-sided, with Sabalenka not allowing her opponent more than five games in either of those matches. That was the case also in both of their meetings in Madrid in the past, which Sabalenka won.

The only match that Andreeva won against her upcoming final opponent was at the 2024 Roland Garros. Sabalenka wasn’t 100% fit during the match, and it was the only match in which the teenager was competitive.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Mirra Andreeva Prediction:

Apart from that match at the French Open, Sabalenka has largely dominated this growing rivalry so far. She destroyed Andreeva in all of their matches, apart from that one, and it never seemed like the Russian could challenge her opponent in some way.

At the same time, the teenager’s progress in recent weeks can’t be ignored. Andreeva made a massive step in the right direction, and she should be able to at least challenge the top seed in this match. Sabalenka, however, remains the favorite.

Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka to win in three sets.
