Turk Telekom Ankara (BSL) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old German ex-international 193cm point guard Ismet Akpinar for season 2024-25. Akpinar is not a newcomer in Turkish League as he played most recently at Galatasaray (BSL). In 29 games he recorded 7.2ppg, 1.1rpg and 1.4apg last season. He also played 8 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged 9.4ppg and 1.9apg. Akpinar was voted to German NBBL All-Star Game back in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The previous (2022-23) season he played at Fenerbahce. In 22 BSL games he had 5.0ppg and 1.7apg in that year. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. Akpinar also played 5 games in Euroleague where he got 3.2ppg in that year. He was also a member of German international program for some years. Akpinar played for German Senior National Team between 2017 and 2021 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2015. He represented Germany at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) seven years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 2.0ppg. Akpinar has played previously professionally also in Germany (ALBA Berlin, ratiopharm Ulm, Bayern Muenchen, Rist Wedel and Tigers) and Turkey (Besiktas and Bahcesehir). He was selected to German NBBL All-Star Game back in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
