Profile of Brian Thomas Jr. as a Dynasty Rookie

LSU Tigers wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. poses after being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the No. 23 pick during the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft at Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza.

After months of debate on the fourth wide receiver selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, Brian Thomas Jr. found a good landing spot with the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 23 overall. How should dynasty fantasy football managers value him for rookie drafts in 2024?

From a high-level view, Thomas lacks the collegiate production compared to other prospects at his position. He has exceptional physical attributes but questions arise about his lack of dominance until his final year at LSU.

Teaming up with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who has shown promise but has yet to reach elite status, Thomas could be the vertical threat Lawrence needs to excel. With Calvin Ridley now in Tennessee, Thomas faces competition from Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, Gabe Davis, and Zay Jones for targets.

Despite the competition, Thomas’s physical abilities give him a high ceiling and potential to unlock Lawrence’s true potential. Running a limited route tree at LSU, his landing spot with the Jaguars makes him a late first-round pick in rookie drafts.

Thomas was a standout two-sport athlete in high school and was highly recruited for his junior year performance. His collegiate career started slow but exploded in his junior year with impressive stats.

With strengths in release, foot quickness, acceleration, body control, and explosiveness after the catch, Thomas has the potential to be a dynamic playmaker. However, he tends to body catch too often, struggles against physical corners, and lacks a diverse route tree.

As you prepare for the 2024 fantasy football season, consider Thomas as a valuable asset in your dynasty drafts. Subscribe to the PFN Inside Access Podcast for more insights on fantasy football.
