Prominent Players Who Failed to Make the Cut at the 2024 Black Desert Championship

Notables who missed the cut at the 2024 Black Desert Championship

The PGA Tour has taken the necessary steps to highlight the drama surrounding Friday’s cut in recent coverage. Last week, during the Sanderson Farms Championship broadcast on Golf Channel, viewers were able to witness the excitement as players fought to make it to the weekend. The suspension of play due to darkness at the 2024 Black Desert Classic in Ivins, Utah left 19 golfers waiting to complete their second rounds. Amateur player Kihei Akina felt the pressure as he faced a crucial 10-foot putt on his final hole, knowing it could determine his fate.

“I thought I had to get to 5 just to be safe. The putt on 18 I thought I had to make it,” Akina said.

Unfortunately, Akina was unable to sink the putt, but Tour winner Daniel Berger managed to secure his spot in the weekend rounds by birdieing the 17th and 18th holes to shoot a 65 and finish on the cutline. Justin Lower also had a chance to make the cut with an eagle attempt at the 18th but fell short. The suspense continued into Saturday when Wesley Bryan made a clutch eagle putt at 18 to secure his spot in the weekend rounds.

In total, 69 golfers advanced to the weekend with a score of 5-under 137 or better. However, several notable players failed to make the cut, including Rafael Campos, Peter Malnati, Mike Weir, Luke List, Taylor Montgomery, Camilo Villegas, Keith Mitchell, Kevin Kisner, and Jay Don Blake.
