The UEFA Europa and Europa Conference League Round of 16 matchups are officially set for six American players.
Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah and AC Milan will face off with Ligue 1 side Rennes in the Europa League Round of 16, UEFA announced Monday. The Serie A side dropped into the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group behind Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain.
Pulisic started in five of AC Milan’s six group stage matches, scoring once last week in a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United. Musah started in four of his five UCL appearances, logging 90 minutes once over that span.
Paxten Aaronson, Timmy Chandler and Eintracht Frankfurt with meet Belgian side Union St. Gilloise in the Conference League Round of 16. The Bundesliga club finished second in its Conference League group behind group-winners PAOK Thessaloniki.
Aaronson made five appearances for Frankfurt in group stage play while Chandler registered one assist in a 6-0 romp over HJK Helsinki.
Henry Wingo and Christian Cappis round out the four American players set for the Conference League Round of 16. Wingo did not dress during Ferencvaros’ six group stage matches as the Hungarian squad finished second behind Fiorentina.
Ferencvaros will take on Greek side Olympiakos in the Round of 16.
Cappis featured in two Europa League matches for Molde before the Norwegian side dropped into the Conference League Round of 16. Molde will square off with Polish side Legia Warsaw during the next round.
