Quarterfinals of the 2024 Copa América: Matchday 3 Preview and Analysis

2024 Copa América Quarterfinals, Matchday 3: Match thread and discussion

It’s the final day of the 2024 Copa America quarterfinals, and two matches will help determine the final semifinal match. In the first match, Colombia will face Panama, while Uruguay will tango with Brazil in the second match.

Colombia were the winners of Group D, holding off Brazil to draw their final group stage match. They won against Costa Rica and Paraguay, scoring 6 goals in the group stage. They’re also on a 26-match unbeaten streak dating back to 2022, and they hope to continue their torrid pace.

Panama is the shock second place team out of Group C, holding off the USMNT by beating Bolivia in their final match. They come in with a ton of house money, and they hope to continue to shock everyone with their play and hopefully take out Colombia.

In the second match, Uruguay enters as the Group C winners, and they beat the USMNT in their final match without coach Marcelo Bielsa on the sidelines. They’ve been pretty dangerous lately, and it sets up a terrific chance for them to get to the semifinals.

Standing in their way is Brazil, who were the runners-up in Group D. They had some moments where they showed how great they can be in open space, but they also drew Costa Rica in their opening match. They will have to bring it all together against Uruguay to advance.
