Radek Vitek, on loan from Man United, to be out for “several weeks” due to injury, confirms BW Linz – Latest on Man United’s News and Transfers

A roundup of Manchester United's young loanees' weekend performances - Man United News And Transfer News

BW Linz have confirmed that goalkeeper and Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek suffered a serious injury expected to rule him out of action for a prolonged period.

Vitek temporarily left United in August to join BW Linz in search of first-team opportunities and regular playing time.

This followed a successful loan spell in the second half of the 2023/24 season with Accrington Stanley, in which Vitek really came into his own between the sticks.

The shot-stopper enjoyed a superb start to life with BW Linz, as he kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 victory over Rapid Wien.

Vitek also recently produced another impressive performance as his side managed a 1-0 derby victory over LASK. On this occasion, he made three stops from inside the box.

After a string of exceptional displays, BW Linz have relayed that Vitek has suffered a setback.

The Austrian Bundesliga outfit relayed via their official website, “Our number 1 Radek Vitek and Conor Noß have to take a break due to injury.”

“The Blau-Weiß team is also currently without goalkeeper Radek Vitek.”

“He tore his cruciate and medial ligaments during the warm-up during the 1-0 derby victory. The 20-year-old will therefore be out for several weeks.”

“We wish Radek Vitek and Conor Noß a good and speedy recovery and support them on their way back!”

BW Linz are currently in fourth place in the league, level on points with Wolfsberger AC and just two below table leaders SK Sturm Graz.

This latest injury is undoubtedly a major blow for Vitek, who was solidifying his position in the team and likely had ambitions of competing for a place as United’s goalkeeper upon his return to Old Trafford.
