Raducanu, Pliskova, and Stephens Secure Spots on Qualifying Entry List for 2024 National Bank Open in Toronto

[TORONTO, ON] July 17, 2024 – Tennis Canada revealed the qualifying entry list for the 2024 National Bank Open presented by Rogers (NBO) on Wednesday. Two rounds of qualifying will commence during 407 ETR Family Weekend at Sobeys Stadium on Sunday, August 4 and Monday, August 5. The list includes three Grand Slam champions with 2018 NBO runner-up Sloane Stephens (2017 US Open), Sofia Kenin (2020 Australian Open), both of the United States, and Great Britain’s Emma Raducanu (2021 US Open) all confirmed to take part. 2021 NBO runner-up Karolina Pliskova of Czechia, a former World No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam finalist (2016 US Open, 2021 Wimbledon), is also set to feature as the top-ranked player on the qualifying list.

“It’s a testament to the strength-in-depth of the WTA Tour and the women’s game that we’re able to confirm such a strong qualifying list for this year’s National Bank Open presented by Rogers,” said Karl Hale, Tournament Director, NBO Toronto. “We look forward to welcoming all of the players to Toronto next month and we know it will be a fierce competition to see who will claim the all-important places in the main draw. Fans will need no more encouragement than the names on that list to join us during 407 ETR Family Weekend, which is free for all attendees.”

Fans are reminded that, due to the Paris 2024 Olympics schedule, the NBO will start and end one day later than usual this year, with the first day of qualifying on Sunday, August 4, main draw due to commence on Tuesday, August 6 and the singles and doubles finals taking place on Monday, August 12.

Three qualifying wild cards, which will be allocated to Canadians, will be announced by the National Bank Open in due course. One further qualifying wild card will be awarded to the winner of the pre-qualifying draw taking place from Tuesday, July 30 to Friday, August 2 at Sobeys Stadium.

The qualifying entry list for the National Bank Open in Montreal will be confirmed on Thursday, July 18. Full details regarding the on-site activities for fans during 407 ETR Family Weekend in Toronto will be confirmed next week.
