Former US Open winner Emma Raducanu picked up a much-needed win on Thursday in Palm Springs, defeating Rebeka Masarova 6-2, 6-3.

Needing one hour and 45 minutes to prevail, Raducanu will next face No. 30 seed Dayana Yastremska.

Elsewhere, former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki picked up a straight set victory over Lin Zhu 7-6(6), 6-1 and Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins dismissed Erika Andreeva 7-6(3), 7-6(6).

Lucia Bronzetti and Katerina Siniakova also advanced to the round of 64.

On the men’s side, former finalist Stan Wawrinka was ousted in three sets by Tomas Machac, 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-2.

Wawrinka, who is almost 39-years-old, is currently ranked No. 70 in the world.

Other results on the day saw Lorenzo Sonego, Aleksandar Vukic and Dusan Lajovic all reached the second round.

Vukic will next face top seed Novak Djokovic.
