Manchester United’s turbulent season has left manager Erik ten Hag under huge pressure at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag’s men have failed to string together any kind of consistent form throughout the campaign with some bizarre performances from individuals and as a collective.
Big money signing Rasmus Hojlund failed to hit the ground running after joining from Atalanta in the summer and lack of goals has been a major issue for United throughout the campaign.
In fairness to the young Dane, he has been starved of service at times and has cut a forlorn figure at the focal point of Ten Hag’s attack.
United’s style of play has been called into question consistently this season and Hojlund has struggled in certain games.
In fact, as reported by The Daily Mail, Hojlund has been vocal in his frustrations, leading to a couple of fall outs with his teammates earlier on in the season.
The 21-year-old reportedly complained to Ten Hag and his coaching staff that Fernandes was not passing to him enough and the he subsequently had another falling out, this time with Diogo Dalot after the 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen in the Champions League.
It is believed that the club captain sided with Dalot in that dispute, with Hojlund then raising his concerns with the United coaching team.
Hojlund and Dalot did put their dispute to bed after coaching staff encouraged the Dane to address the issue directly with the right-back.
After that, the United skipper also made his peace with Hojlund and the trio are now said to be singing from the same hymn sheet once more.
Hojlund has bagged 13 goals in all competitions this season and slammed home the winning penalty in the FA Cup semi-final shootout against Coventry on Sunday.
But such is the disappointment surrounding United’s season, even an FA Cup trophy might not be enough to save Ten Hag’s position at the club.
The trio involved in the aforementioned disputes have arguably been among the very few players who can hold their head high this campaign and either Ten Hag or the next manager will no doubt want to keep them on the same page moving into next season and beyond.
