Ravens Defender Explains What’s Behind His Notable Performances This Season

The Baltimore Ravens are one of the AFC’s top teams in 2023.

They have recaptured their defensive magic, something that they seemed to have lost over the past several years.

By allowing 15.6 points per game, the Ravens give up the second-fewest points in the league thanks to a few key contributors.

Patrick Queen and Roquan Smith are typically recognized for their significant impact when it comes to overall tackles, but other players on this team are equally valuable, and they don’t get as much recognition.

One such player is Justin Madubuike, who recently sat down with Adam Schefter to discuss his performance to date.

Schefter asked Madubuike about a potential reason for his breakout season, to which responded, “It’s just me developing as a football player, always learning, being a sponge.”

Madubuike has logged 10 sacks, a career-high for the fourth-year player.

His best season total before this was in 2022, where he achieved 5.5 sacks.

He is slated to blow that mark out of the water, hoping to continue to develop his game in the back half of the season and the playoffs as well.

Madubuike was asked about his elite performance in a contract year, something he tried to pass by when talking with Schefter.

While he understands the importance of being paid, he also seems to want to get better at his craft in whatever way possible.

The Ravens are poised to make a significant postseason run, and if Madubuike can hone his skills before that happens, the Ravens should be in a good position to compete.
