Real Madrid has finally secured the signing of France superstar Kylian Mbappe after years of negotiations. The demand for Mbappe’s No. 9 jersey from eager Madridistas has caused a significant wait time for fans looking to add the new merchandise to their collection.
Currently, fans could be waiting up to six weeks to receive their Mbappe jerseys, potentially missing out on having them before Real Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup match against Atalanta on August 14.
Real Madrid Fans Facing Wait for Kylian Mbappe Jersey
Real Madrid, who are 15-time European champions, announced Mbappe’s signing prior to the 2024 European Championship (EURO 2024) in Germany. The club postponed the unveiling ceremony as Mbappe was solely focused on representing France in EURO 2024.
Following France’s 2-1 loss to Spain in the EURO semi-final, Real Madrid revealed that Mbappe would be officially presented at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on July 16. Fans rushed to purchase his 2024-25 kit, causing inventory shortages and delays.
Due to the high demand, fans were informed that there could be a delay of up to six weeks for the delivery of their Mbappe jerseys, regardless of the shipping method selected.
The official online store statement from Madrid reads:
“Due to the current high demand, items from this collection may have a delivery delay of up to 4-6 additional weeks, regardless of the shipping method selected.
“This delay will affect both orders exclusive to the Mbappé collection and those combining products from the Mbappé collection with other products from the online store.”
For an “authentic” Mbappe jersey, fans will need to pay $215, the same as what Mbappe will wear on Matchdays. The fan version is available for $150.
Mbappe, who represented France in EURO 2024 during the summer, may not immediately join Real Madrid’s pre-season. However, he is expected to play at least one pre-season match against either Barcelona (July 31) or Chelsea (August 3) before featuring in the UEFA Super Cup.
