The Golden State Warriors have shown reluctance to include Brandin Podziemski in any trade talks involving potentially acquiring Lauri Markkanen.
According to reports, the franchise is adamant about keeping the second-year guard out of trade discussions.
Podziemski has evidently made a positive impact on the team in his brief time with them.
The Athletic’s Anthony Slater revealed that the Warriors value Podziemski highly and have no intention of trading him due to his significance within the organization.
“One of the rare aspects to him, compared to the Warriors’ other recent picks, is Steve Kerr couldn’t keep him off the floor as a rookie,” Slater mentioned on 95.7 The Game radio.
Podziemski had an impressive rookie season, culminating in him being named to the All-Rookie First Team.
Team owner Joe Lacob has expressed his admiration for the young guard, believing he has the potential to become an All-Star player.
“He was a revelation, to be quite honest,” Lacob stated during Summer League. “We’re really excited. We think we have a future All-Star. We really do.”
Lacob highlighted Podziemski’s versatility and importance to the team, praising his confidence, skills, and NBA-ready physique.
Podziemski played in 74 games during the 2023-24 season, with 28 starts, averaging 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 26.6 minutes per game, shooting 38.5 percent from three-point range.
He was also selected, alongside Warriors teammate Trayce Jackson-Davis, for the USA Select Team that trained with Team USA before the Olympics in Paris.
The Santa Clara product has been performing well in the Summer League, averaging 18.5 points through two games, including a standout 21-point, 12-rebound performance against the Bulls.
