The men’s quarter-final lineup at Wimbledon 2024 is complete as Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, and Lorenzo Musetti progressed into the last eight from the bottom half of the draw. Musetti and De Minaur made comfortable progress in four sets early in the day. Taylor Frtiz then mounted a successful comeback from two sets down to defeat Sascha Zverev. In the last match on centre, Novak Djokovic took down Holger Rune in straight sets. He won the first twelve points of the match to set the tone and avoided any real sticky situations with some uber-solid play in his best match of the tournament so far.

Taylor Fritz Floors Fourth Seed Zverev
Taylor Fritz is well versed at being on the receiving end of tough losses at Wimbledon, but this time around, he was the inflictor, rallying from two sets down to defeat fourth seed Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-3. Zverev, who had not lost serve through his first three matches, played solidly in the opening two sets. However, a critical double fault at 4-4 in the third set marked his first service break of the tournament and shifted the momentum in Fritz’s favour. Fritz displayed exceptional performance with 67 winners to just 23 unforced errors, 15 aces, and winning 69 per cent of his second-serve points.
Djokovic Dismisses Rune
Holger Rune headed into Monday night’s fourth-round clash with a stellar record against Novak Djokovic, having two previous wins and being able to win at least a set in their five previous meetings. However, that record fell as Novak produced a commanding performance, winning 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the quarter-finals in 2 hours and 3 minutes.

Musetti into his first Grand Slam quarter-final: Musetti was my predicted quarter-finalist in his section, and he got there by defeating French lucky loser Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2. Mpetshi Perricard has looked dangerous all tournament, but he couldn’t get it going against Musetti, who broke his serve five times and committed only eight unforced errors compared to 42 from Mpetshi Perricard. The Italian faces Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals.
De Minaur Flattens Fils: Alex de Minaur is into his first Wimbledon quarter-final, defeating Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 on No. 1 Court. While not someone you’d pay big bucks to watch, the Aussie always plays tenaciously and his raw speed around the court makes him extremely difficult to find a way through.
