Former Kings guard Jeremy Lamb recently announced his retirement from basketball, but his departure comes with a bit of controversy.
Lamb is currently in a relationship with Anjali Ranadivé, daughter of Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé, who previously served as the GM of the team’s G-League affiliate, the Stockton Kings, starting in June 2023.
According to TMZ, Anjali resigned from her position in January to pursue other opportunities.
Lamb initially joined the Kings through a trade in February 2022, but was waived a year later. He later returned to the G-League in November and played under Anjali until he was sidelined with a back injury in March.
There is speculation about whether their relationship began before they both left the Kings, as organizations typically frown upon internal fraternization. For instance, Ime Udoka received a suspension for the entire 2022-23 season for having an affair with a Celtics staffer.
The couple went public with their relationship on Instagram recently, sharing photos of themselves kissing and interacting with wolf dogs to support Anjali’s Jaws and Paws animal sanctuary.
Lamb had a successful NBA career spanning ten seasons with the Thunder, Hornets, Pacers, and Kings after being a lottery pick in 2012.
In his retirement announcement on Instagram in August, Lamb expressed gratitude for the opportunities basketball provided him and stated it was time to pursue another dream.
Despite being only 32 years old, Lamb faced numerous injuries throughout his career, including a significant ACL and MCL tear in 2019, ultimately impacting his performance.
