Liverpool is prepared to spend €95 million to acquire Alessandro Bastoni, a key defender for Inter Milan.
After a remarkable debut season that saw Arne Slot lead Liverpool to the Premier League title, the current campaign has proven to be less successful for the team. Struggling with consistency, Liverpool has identified their defense as a significant area needing improvement. As reported by Fichajes, they are ready to make a hefty investment in Bastoni.
Slot’s Interest in Bastoni Heightens
Since joining Inter in 2017, the Italian international has consistently improved and is now considered among the elite defenders worldwide. Former World Cup champion Marco Materazzi has praised Bastoni as a ‘leader’ since he arrived at the club.
Bastoni’s contract with the Serie A side extends until the summer of 2028, yet Liverpool is eager to lure him away. With uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konaté’s future and Virgil van Dijk nearing the end of his career, Liverpool wants to secure Bastoni to strengthen their defense.
