Reflecting on the Impact of Bill Tobin, Mentor to Duke Tobin and Beyond

Indianapolis Colts vice president and director of football operations Bill Tobin walks the sidelines prior to the preseason matchup against the Detroit Lions at the RCA Dome.

The Cincinnati Bengals have been busy this offseason, reloading the roster for a potential deep playoff run in 2024. The health of star quarterback Joe Burrow is a key factor, but the team also needs to address the wide receiver position.

Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins form one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL. However, with both players seeking contract extensions and Higgins unhappy playing on the franchise tag, the Bengals may look for help at the position in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Former Cincinnati Bengals executive Bill Tobin passed away recently, and Pro Football Network’s Jay Morrison discussed his legacy, including a famous interaction with Mel Kiper before the 1994 NFL Draft.

As the Bengals work through contract negotiations with Chase and Higgins, they have concerns at wide receiver depth. Morrison highlighted some mid-round prospects that could be of interest to Cincinnati, such as Malachi Corley from Western Kentucky.

Owain Jones predicts the Bengals will select offensive tackle Amarius Mims in the 2024 NFL Draft to address their long-term situation at the position.

Pro Football Network’s Ian Cummings released updated wide receiver rankings for the draft, with top players like Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze potentially catching the Bengals’ eye.

Cincinnati also met with top defensive tackle prospect Johnny Newton before the draft, addressing a position of need following D.J. Reader’s departure in free agency.
