Wild scenes erupted during a youth basketball game in Colorado this week when the games referees started fighting each other in front of horrified children, according to a report from TMZ.
Police are now investigating the incident, which took place during a fourth-grade boys’ game in Lakewood, Colorado.
Footage of the confrontation shows two referees clashing on the court following a disagreement. The situation intensified when one referee threw a powerful punch, causing the other official to fall.
Despite attempts to throw more punches, bystanders intervened and prevented further carnage. The fallen referee regained composure but engaged in a standoff with another official, which came to nothing thanks to more people stepping in.
Lakewood Police confirmed no arrests were made as the involved parties had left the premises by the time they arrived.
There were no reported injuries from the altercation but all referees involved have been suspended indefinitely, according to TMZ.
