Report: AC Milan linked with transfer for USMNT and Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso

USMNT and Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso reportedly linked with a transfer to AC Milan

AC Milan may need to change its name to AMERICA Club Milan. The Italian side has already added Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah, and now reports are emerging that they have their eye on the only Yank who has the audacity to just put his first name on the back of his kit: Johnny Cardoso.

According to ESPN, the Rossoniri have the midfielder on a list of transfer targets. Johnny recently joined Real Betis last season and started 15 matches, accumulating 1,328 minutes. So far this year, he has only played 48 minutes in La Liga while starting two matches in the Conference League.

Cardoso is a steady passer but is emerging as a strong defensive presence in the midfield. He only recently moved to Betis, a team that has placed between 5th and 7th in La Liga over the past four seasons, and a jump to AC Milan would be a significant move for the player. He would not only join his USMNT teammates, but he would also have the opportunity to compete for league and cup titles as well as appear in the Champions League.
