A second EFL Championship side has reportedly joined the race to add American goalkeeper Ethan Horvath.
Cardiff City is interested in acquiring the veteran shot-stopper on loan for the remainder of the season, Wales Online reported Tuesday. Horvath’s contract with Nottingham Forest is set to expire this summer and the Bluebirds are keen on bolstering their goalkeeper position.
Hull City has also expressed interest in adding Horvath during the January Transfer Window.
The 28-year-old, who was left out of Nottingham Forest’s Premier League roster for the first half of the season, has not featured since preseason camp last summer.
Horvath spent last season on loan at then-Championship side Luton Town, helping the Hatters earn promotion to the top flight. He made 51 combined appearances for the Hatters, registering 20 clean sheets and finishing the campaign as one of the top goalkeepers in the second-tier.
Horvath ultimtely has struggled for playing time at Nottingham Forest, making only 11 appearances since his arrival in 2021. Prior to his move to England, Horvath featured for Belgian side Club Brugge and Norwegian side Molde.
The Colorado native has earned nine caps for the USMNT, last featuring in a 4-0 friendly win over Oman last September.
Cardiff City sit 14th in the EFL Championship table and next visit Watford on February 3.
