Luka Doncic was absent from the Mavericks’ second day of training camp in Las Vegas due to a calf injury, the team announced.
Dallas revealed that Doncic was sidelined because of a left calf contusion he suffered during workouts, and he will undergo re-evaluation in one week.
The Dallas Mavericks announced today that Mavericks guard Luka Dončić sustained a hit during workouts this week resulting in a left calf contusion.
Dončić will be re-evaluated as necessary in one week.

“He got hit in the calf,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “Reported it tight yesterday so they went and got an MRI. We’ll reevaluate him in a week and see where he stands.”
Kidd added, “There’s no concern at this point about his availability. We’ll see how he feels in a week.”
Although there is no concern, it’s definitely not a good start to the pre-season for the Mavs’ biggest weapon on offense.
Doncic has a history of calf injuries in the preseason, as he experienced a similar issue one year ago.
He was placed on a minutes restriction for the exhibition game against his former team Real Madrid, which continued through the remainder of the preseason.
However, the problem did not linger into the regular season, and the guard was ready for the season opener against the Spurs, where he recorded a 30-point triple-double in the Mavs’ victory.
Luka has previously injured the same calf, in the final regular-season game of the 2021-22 campaign. This injury caused him to miss the first three games of Dallas’ first-round series against Utah.
His re-evaluation is scheduled for Oct. 9, just one day before the Mavericks host the Jazz in the team’s second preseason game.
