Reports indicate that Weston McKennie is still being considered for a potential transfer to Aston Villa

Weston McKennie on Juventus future: "Hopefully we can work it out"

Weston McKennie is once again on Aston Villa’s radar this summer after being considered by the club last year. Both Juventus and Aston Villa are reportedly in discussions regarding McKennie’s potential transfer to the English Premier League side, as reported by Sky Sports on Tuesday. This possible move would be separate from Douglas Luiz’s rumored links to Juventus.

Samuel Iling-Junior is also a target for Aston Villa this summer as a potential replacement for Luiz. Aston Villa was one of several clubs interested in McKennie last summer, but he ended up staying with Juventus for the 2023-24 season.

McKennie is entering the final year of his contract with Juventus and reportedly turned down the club’s latest extension offer in April. Despite Juventus offering McKennie a two-year extension at €2.5 million per year, the midfielder was not satisfied with the terms.

The 25-year-old had a successful season with Juventus, winning the Coppa Italia and helping the team secure a top-four finish in Serie A. McKennie recorded 10 assists in 38 appearances, playing nearly 3,000 minutes.

However, McKennie’s potential exit from Juventus was opened up by the departure of manager Massimiliano Allegri. Currently, McKennie is away on international duty with the U.S. men’s national team, who will be facing Brazil in a friendly before the start of the Copa America group stage.
