There are few, if any, accomplishments one can achieve in an athletic career better than to reach the pinnacle of your sport, and for a baseball player, that’s winning a World Series.
For one former World Series champion, the road didn’t stop there, and he recently picked up another accolade outside of the sport that could mean just as much.
MLB’s official Twitter account shared that retired veteran Dexter Fowler just graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational and Professional Communication.

Fowler earned just over $90 million in his baseball career, so he obviously didn’t need the money and didn’t need to graduate from college.
It’s admirable that he did so anyway, and from a prestigious university such as Penn State.
Fowler played from 2008 until 2021 for the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Los Angeles Angels, and most notably was a major part of the 2016 Cubs team that ended their 108-year World Series drought, where he was named to his first and only All-Star team.
Fowler was drafted by the Rockies in 2004 in the 14th round straight out of high school, as Fowler rejected offers from the University of Miami and Harvard to sign with Colorado.
He made a promise to his parents that he would finish his education and go to college when he made that decision, and 20 years later, he made good on that promise.
Imagine how tough it has to be to tell your parents you’re saying no to Harvard.
