NCG SUMMARY

The Full Swing Kit launch monitor is quite literally a seriously good piece of kit. It is incredibly easy to set up, very accurate and has a game-changing display. I have used the device to practice with, to coach with and I’m more than delighted with how accurate it is and how my sessions can now be measured by real data.

PROS

  • Display is brilliant
  • Easy set up
  • Way cheaper than other Doppler radars
  • Battery life is excellent

Full Swing Kit launch monitor: First Impressions

The first time I saw a Full Swing Kit launch monitor was at the PGA show in Orlando this year (2024). I’d heard of the brand being a launch monitor nerd and with Tiger Woods being an investor, but I’d never come across anyone who owned and used one. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that the brand had multiple hitting bays set up with the Full Swing Kit sitting next to a TrackMan and a GC Quad. This was definitely a statement about how accurate the launch monitor is; you wouldn’t take your product to the biggest stage knowing the data wasn’t absolutely spot on. And it is.

NCG Verdict

I have always been fascinated by launch monitors. One of my early coaches bought one, and we all became obsessed with trying to ‘zero out’ our swings, which, looking back, did my golf absolutely no good. We have come a long way since then, and the data is understood a lot better now. Launch monitors are generally used appropriately for measuring rather than perfecting. I have pretty much used them all, which puts me in a good place to review the Full Swing Kit. It is a Doppler radar that sits 8-10 feet behind the ball and then tracks the ball from start to finish, giving you real data on what the golf ball has actually done. It measures 16 points of accurate data, which are displayed on the iPhone or iPad app or Heads Up Display; I think you can even connect it to your Apple Watch.

This has to be one of the easiest launch monitors to set up. From getting it out of its case to hitting balls and getting real-time feedback is less than a couple of minutes. I really like the built-in camera as it allows you to point the device at the target very easily, I have always found with the side on camera-based devices I am never quite sure where the device is aligned, which does make you question whether the data is accurate or not. The Full Swing golf app is really clean and well-presented; it shows you your data after each shot, your dispersion chart, and your shot averages, and it will even show you a video replay as the camera records each swing you make, which you could feed back to your coach or work yourself on. I have used the device is basically every lesson I have given since receiving it, and it has proved really effective. My players love being able to see their data on the HUD, and I can choose which data points they see so that they are not overwhelmed by numbers. I use it on the driving range and out on the golf course as it is easily portable around the course at the golf club. It also works really well indoor and outdoor for those of you with a confined space at home, the normalised data has been brilliant, and you can tell the Full Swing App where you are and what you are doing, so it gives you the best data for your situation. The Full Swing app doesn’t have courses, but it hooks up with E6 Connect software so you can still get that at home golf simulator set up so you can work on other things than perfecting your swing. The Full Swing Kit is ridiculously good value at less than a quart of the price of a TrackMan, Flightscope or GC Quad. The radar technology shouldn’t be this cheap, and with Tiger Woods, Jon Rahm and Dustin Johnson all trusting this device to work on their games, I am not sure why you would go anywhere else.
